Keynes Controls Product Setup Videos

The following video clips demonstrate how to configure the various Keynes Controls products.

The aim of these small videos is to demonstrate by example how the main features of the hardware is configured especially when using the ‘Terminal Menu Systems’ built into the products.

All of the videos are MP4 format and can be downloaded from the links provided.

The Keynes Controls training videos only use the USB-SDI12-Pro or USB-RS485-Pro network media converters.

Using a Terminal Emulator to access the menu systems

Most of the Keynes Controls data acquisition system hardware and sensor interfaces are configured using built in menu system.  Video shows how to use the AquaLOG terminal port menu system.

The menu system can be accessed using a ‘Terminal Emulator’ program.

Default settings are:  Terminal type = VT100

Communications :     9600 B, 8 bit, 1 Stop, N parity

                               Flow control = Non.

The terminal port settings are the same for all products.

Q-Log is the Keynes Controls basic data acquisition and display software for use on Microsoft Windows PC and tablet computer systems.

The following video clip shows how how to start up Q-LOG software and to do the basic configurations required to gather data from devices located on a SDI-12 network.

Further Information

The example shows 2 x AquaDAT sensor interface units running on an SDI-12 network.

Each AquaDAT has been configured to operate as an 8 channel differential input data acquisition unit.

The number and type of sensor inputs on the AquaDAT is a setting on the device itself and is not defined by Q-Log.

The following video clip shows how to setup a panel meter

to display data from a sensor.

1.  Start Q-LOG

2.  Set network COM Port

3.  Show Variable List

4.  Change Sensor Name & Units

5. Select Panel meter - 2 x 2 Display

6. Start Data Acquisition

Further Information

2 x AquaDAT sensor interfaces with SDI12  ID = 5 and ID = 6

connected to a USB-SDI12-Pro media converter.

The USB-SDI12-Pro media converter is assigned to COM-4

serial port

The AquaDAT sensor interfaces have already set to return 8 values each on receipt of send data command. 8 x DE inputs set inside AquaDAT and not by Q-LOG. The software only identifies number values being returned

Configuring Q-LOG Panel Meter Display - 2 x 2 Display

Configure a AquaLOG data logger for use with the Ezi-LOG Web Interface using data table EV2PQ83H. Terminal port uses COM-3 for RS-232 communications.

Data Table -

Small data table

Width of data table = 40 columns

Circular log for repeat recording

Data update period to Ezi-LOG = 30 mins

Once configured the logger switched to ** CLI ** mode.

Device left ready for communications across GPRS network.
