The diagram below demonstrates how a simple PC based crack monitoring system can be put together using the different interfaces available from Keynes Controls.

For applications requiring only a few inputs then the single channel NP-Crack-v1 cards  are used This interface can be used on many different manufactures potentiometric displacement/crack meters and provides the excitation and temperature sensor inputs.

In applications where there are a number of sensors grouped together then the AquaDAT sensor interface offers the best option. This sensor interface can drive up to a maximum of 16 crack meters from a single device.

For long term remote applications where the sensors are to be used outside for long periods of time, the Vibrating Wire crack meters offer the best solution. The VibWire-108-SDI12 series of instruments support most manufactures ranges of VW crack meter and interface directly to the local network.

Single Channel Digital Crack Meter Interface

The image below shows a single channel NP-Crack-v1 interface used to acquire and send displacement values from a potentiometric displacement sensor to a SDI-12 digital network data logger.

The NP-Crack-v1 is fully User programmable and can be used to send raw or displacement and temperature  values in engineering units to a logger.
The NP-Strain-V1 is only powered on during a data acquisition operation and so is ideal for deployment for remote field applications where power requirements are to be kept to a minimum.

An IP 65 cable gland sealed enclosure ensures the interface can be deployed close to the displacement sensor in most locations
