Multi Channel Vibrating Wire Sensors

The image opposite shows the basic configuration for a multi-channel sensor instrumentation. The load cell uses 3 x Vibrating wire elements to determine the total load and so to take a measurement 3 x VibWire-101 interfaces will be required.

The basic configuration is all that is required for direct connection of the load cell to a PC.

Large Scale Systems

Any type of Vibrating wire sensor can be scanned across a local area network using the
VibWire-101 interface connected to a suitable media converter. The example below shows the basic configuration for both single channel and multi-channel vibrating wire sensors connected to the LAN.

The sample rate of the VibWire-101 is controlled directly by the polling rate of the serial port of the instrument by the software on the data acquisition system.

Introduction

The VibWire-101-RS232 is a high speed single channel vibrating wire interface capable of offering both static and dynamic measurement capability with a range of sensors. The device is fully encapsulated and is safe for operation in the harshest of environments.

The VibWire-101-RS232 is a software controlled device so that its sample rate can be adjusted by the User to suit the application. Simple High Speed VW Sensor Measurements

The simplest way to undertake high speed vibrating wire sensor is to use a RS232-USB serial converter to link the VibWire-101-RS232 directly to a laptop computer system. The application software records the data at the desired sample rate directly into a CSV format file for later analysis.
Demo Software

The demo software supplied free with the VibWire-101-RS232 is used to test the instrument with a specific VW sensor.
